Telling Time
Hours, halves, quarters.
An analogue clock asks a child to read two different scales on one dial, one of which counts in fives. Starting with o'clock and half past, then quarters, then five-minute intervals, suits ages four to eight.

An hour is 60 minutes
Quarter past = ¼ of an hour
The clock face is a fraction pie split into twelve. Each big number is five minutes apart. Skip count by five to read the minutes.
What parents should watch for
- Reading the minute hand as if it were the hour hand.
- Saying "three o'clock" when the hour hand has moved past three.
- Reading the minute hand as the number it points at instead of counting in fives.
- Confusing half past with the half hour before rather than after.
