Place Value for kids
Where a digit sits tells you what it's worth.
In our number system, position is everything. A 3 in the tens place isn't 3 — it's 30. Yaze teaches this the Singapore way with base-10 disks that snap together, so kids see one ten as ten ones before they ever see the word 'ten'.

Tens and Ones
A ten is ten ones bundled together.
Two-digit place value is the idea that the 4 in 43 means four tens, not four. Seeing the number three ways at once — blocks, expanded form (40 + 3) and the numeral — is what makes it stick, usually between ages five and seven.

Hundreds
Ten tens make a hundred.
Three-digit place value extends the same bundling logic: ten tens make a hundred. Children need to read and write numbers to 1000 in numerals and in words, and to handle zeros as placeholders. Usually ages six to eight.
